The Spiritual
You Can Know God!

What We Believe
(It's The Best)

When a person becomes a Christian they are very much like a small child who needs to grow. This growth needs to be a process that will continue for the rest of your life. Very much like a child needs to learn the basics of life to become a mature adult, so does the new Christian. This spiritual growth is both outward and inward. It affects our attitudes, actions, and values. As you grow as a Christian, God will continue to work in your heart so that you will become more like Christ in your character, conduct, and thinking. You will begin to live a life of righteousness through obedience to God, and this new life in Christ will not be a burden, but rather a joy. To enable you to live this joyful life and become a mature Christian may we suggest the following:

Find a church so you can hear the preaching of the Bible, worship God, and enjoy fellowship with other Christians. Such corporate worship has benefits one cannot experience in private. When God’s people pray together, sing praises together, fellowship together, and hear God’s word preached and taught, they are encouraged, challenged, and supported in their spiritual growth. This pleases God and gives honor to his name. Attending church is also a reminder that you are not alone in your faith. (Hebrews 10:25) Along with worshipping God, a Christian should also serve Him in the church and community. God gives each Christian at least one "spiritual gift" at salvation. This gift(s) are to be used in service. When we serve by using our gift(s), it gives us joy and enables God to use us to build up the church/the body of Christ and witness to those who don’t know Christ as their Savior. Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 8:39; Acts 1:8; Romans 12:1-8; I Corinthians 12:4-31.

Study the Bible daily so you can learn about God and His plans.  The Bible reveals God's character and His redemptive plan for mankind. It is from Bible study that you learn of God’s righteousness; thus you have a blue print of how to live the Christian life, and what God requires from you to live a righteous/right kind of life. It is through Bible study that you not only learn how to live, but what to believe as well. You will find that the Bible is a tool for encouragement, and a source of comfort for when you are hurting or have sinned. The Bible is spiritual food that will nourish you so you can become a mature Christian. II Timothy 3:16-17, I Peter 2:2.

Pray. Bible study is the main form in which God speaks to you and prayer is how you talk to God. He wants you to pray to Him for your faith to be strengthened and your love to increase for Him. When you pray, ask God to forgive you of your sins, praise Him and thank Him for His blessings, ask for His help, and pray for others. Make a prayer list of needs, people, activities, and other concerns that you want to pray for. Spend some time in quiet reflection after you have prayed so you can sense God speaking to your heart. Luke 18:1; I Thessalonians 5:17-18; Matthew 6:5-13; 7:7-12.

Confession of Sins
– As stated above, when Christians pray they need to ask for forgiveness of their sins. Christians are not perfect, but forgiven and changed and still growing. As we grow, we sometimes sin. When we sin, our salvation is still secure, but we need to confess those sins to stay close to God and continue to grow. As a disobedient child needs to apologize to his or her parents so the relationship wont suffer, a Christian needs to confess their sins so they wont become a barrier between them and God. God continues to love us even when we sin, but confessing our sins enhances our fellowship with God and our Christian growth. I John 1:8-2:2.
